Cosyne 2025

Alex Belsten, Galen Chuang, Ankit Kumar, and Zeyu Yun presented posters at the 2025 Computational and Systems Neuroscience Conference (COSYNE) in Montreal, Canada.

  • Alex presented work showing that sparse coding of the asymmetric statistical structure in simulated cone responses to natural chromatic scenes aligns with perceptual unique hues, linking color experience to environmental color statistics.
  • Galen presented a model of complex-valued sparse coding and analysis of model phase correlations (poster).
  • Ankit presented a poster which used tools from network theory and statistical physics to uncover and analyze a parallel-hierarchy within the drosophila connectome (poster).
  • Zeyu presented a model for natural video signals by factorizing form and motion (poster).

Kris Bouchard co-organized the workshop Dynamics of brain computations through the lens of control theory.

Many others from the Redwood Center also attended. It was a blast!
